Sanitary Sewer Mainlines - The City is responsible for backups in the sanitary sewer mainlines. Side Sewers - Property owners are responsible for maintaining their side sewers. Side sewer is a system of sewer pipes in and from the building all the way to the connection to the sanitary sewer mainline. Sewer Lateral - Sewer lateral is a series of sewer pipes from the building to the sanitary sewer mainline. It is part of the side sewer and is the responsibity of the propery owner. Building Sewer - Building sewer is a system of sewer pipes inside the building. It is part of the side sewer and is the responsibity of the propery owner.
